RU-58841

Topical Non-Steroidal Anti-Androgen — Research Chemical for Hair Loss

What It Is

RU-58841 is a topical non-steroidal anti-androgen research chemical used to block DHT and other androgens at the hair follicle receptor level. Unlike finasteride or dutasteride, it works locally at the scalp rather than systemically suppressing DHT production. It remains a research compound with no FDA approval.

Mechanism of Action

RU-58841 competes with DHT for binding at the androgen receptor in hair follicles. By blocking androgens locally at the scalp, it prevents follicle miniaturization without significantly affecting systemic hormone levels — at least in theory. Some systemic absorption does occur.

Benefits

Local androgen receptor blockade
Minimal systemic DHT impact
Reduced hair shedding
Compatible with Minoxidil
No oral 5AR inhibitor needed
