Ezetimibe

Cholesterol Absorption Inhibitor — Non-Statin LDL Reduction

What It Is

Ezetimibe is a cholesterol absorption inhibitor — NOT a statin. It works at the intestinal brush border to block dietary and biliary cholesterol uptake, reducing LDL cholesterol without the muscle-related side effects of statins. It is considered non-negotiable lipid support for any oral steroid cycle.

Mechanism of Action

Selectively inhibits the Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) transporter at the intestinal brush border, blocking the absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol. This reduces cholesterol delivery to the liver, upregulates hepatic LDL receptors, and lowers circulating LDL-C.

Benefits

LDL cholesterol reduction
Non-statin mechanism
No muscle side effects
Simple once-daily dosing
Stacks with statins
Oral cycle lipid protection

Dosing Protocol

Parameter Details
Standard Dose 10 mg daily
Dose Adjustment None needed — single fixed dose
Route Oral — no food timing requirement
LDL Reduction Measurable drop in 2–4 weeks

Non-Negotiable for Oral Steroid Cycles

Any client running an oral steroid (e.g., Anavar, Turinabol, Dianabol) MUST include Ezetimibe as baseline lipid protection. Oral steroids devastate lipid panels — this is not optional.

Clinical Note

Ezetimibe is one of the best-tolerated lipid medications available. Its non-statin mechanism makes it ideal for clients who experience statin side effects or who need additional LDL reduction on top of a statin.
