GH Secretagogue (Oral)

MK-677 (Ibutamoren)

Oral ghrelin mimetic that drives GH and IGF-1 release — not a peptide, but a potent oral GH secretagogue.

VIAL IMAGE NEEDED

What It Is

MK-677 (Ibutamoren) is an oral ghrelin receptor agonist — not a peptide. It mimics the hunger hormone ghrelin to drive growth hormone and IGF-1 release without injections. It is one of the most accessible GH secretagogues but comes with significant appetite and metabolic side effects that must be managed.

Mechanism of Action

MK-677 mimics the ghrelin hunger signal by binding to the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a), stimulating the pituitary to release growth hormone and elevating IGF-1 levels. Unlike injectable peptides, it is orally bioavailable with a long duration of action, producing sustained GH elevation over 24 hours from a single dose.

Key Benefits

Safety & Side Effects

Blood Sugar Warning: MK-677 CAN RAISE BLOOD SUGAR. Run Berberine or a Glucose Disposal Agent (GDA) alongside to mitigate this risk. Monitor fasting glucose regularly.
Other side effects:
  • Significant appetite spikes — can derail cutting phases
  • Water retention and bloating
  • Carpal-tunnel tingling and joint stiffness
  • Vivid dreams
  • Can raise prolactin levels
NOT for cutting phases. The appetite increase and water retention make MK-677 unsuitable for fat loss protocols. Use during lean bulking or maintenance phases only.
